Cloud-scape
Thickness of Transiency
In traditional Korean culture, meaning of transience is closely related to nature and landscape. Old ancestors’ paintings often demonstrate the permanence of mountains and transience of environmental effects that capturing the change of natural landscapes. Due to the water streams, foggy cloud and everchanging seasons, the permanent mountain-scape is continuously transitioning its position and its panoramic view. In this project, Cloud-scape, we attempt to express the traditional idea of everchanging landscape through natural elements and clouds on the mountain. The thickness of clouds gradually conceal and reveal the silhouettes of mountain and express its existence. Starting from a 2-dimensional mesh plane, we add z value parameter which is attraction points and convert the z factor into undulating transient motion on x-y plane. By transforming surface on xy plane, we express the movement of clouds while we capture the moments of clouds masking the permanent mountain with a change of z-value of the surface.
