1 Steps of representation evolution.

With the development of digital technology, especially in the post-pandemic period, the public interest and need for virtual reality are rising dramatically. The ways of virtual collaboration become vital issues in discussion. Current online meetings based on video and audio still can’t eliminate the feeling of physical distance, which limits communication efficiency. Like many scientific movies, hologram is applied in remote meetings, showing the real figures of participants and even interactions among them. Many companies like Facebook is working on such products, which can be expected in market in a near future.

This project is based on 3D scanning of real figures, by manipulating the appearance of virtual figures, simply simulating the process of HoloMeeting. When the figure is created from a base projection, generated as pixel boxes at the beginning then is refined to be smooth surfaces. The colors of boxes and smooth surfaces represent the different angles with the horizontal ground, which can indicate the 3D characteristic in space. When end the meeting, the figure is exploded into the air, finally “absorbed” back to the base projection.
