As winter approaches and the weather gets colder, having hotpot is always one of the best ways to stay warm. A hotpot is a pot of boiling hot soup that you can bring ingredients such as vegetables and meat to cook. Eating hotpot is all about socializing and getting together in a lively atmosphere, such as friends gathering, family reunions, and holiday celebrations.

Hotpot provides a variety of styles and flavors across different regions and cultures, and one of the most famous is the amazingly spicy hotpot that features a red broth made with chili and peppercorns that delivers a spicy, tingling, and numbing flavor. Inspired by this hot boiling soup of hotpot and the process of adding ingredients, we aim to replicate this experience to represent and recreate the moment of sharing and joy.

To start with, we aim to articulate the effect of boiling water to set up an initial 2.5D surface to work with. Next, we intersect it with the next layer of a ripple effect to represent a surface condition as different ingredients are dipped into the pot. Finally, we add a spinning effect to the ingredients to reflect the food being cooked in the boiling soup.
