1 Set of lanterns

Inspired by Isamu Noguchi’s Akari Light Sculptures, in this project we aimed to create our own series of lamps that had the same peaceful glow of Noguchi’s lamps. We explored both the form of the lamps we created and the way in which light diffused through the walls of each lamp.

This project was created through a combination of Rhino, Grasshopper, G-Code, and 3D printing. The triangular set of lamps were created using a combination of C#, Rhino, and Grasshopper while the circular set of forms were primarily created using Rhino and Grasshopper. Together, these lamps show the different ways that light diffuses through different forms and folds.
