Imaginary Mindscape
Glitching 3d-Scanned Portrait
John Cage’s Imaginary Landscape No. 5 is a musical composition featuring utter indeterminancy in terms of the substances under structure. Different styles of tracks perform as glitches inside one piece which is supposed to be perceived as a consistent melody. Over continuous fusion of styles we could gradually detect a new motif under the seemly entropy. According to John Cage’s, the idea refers to his Music of Changes. Inspired by John’s method, we use the 3d scanning portrait as the recordings for a representation of forms of changes - the glitches. Along the panning of a 3d-scanned portrait, different glitches mapped by different texture appear along with the music’s abrupt change of styles. An imaginary mindscape appears.
