1 "Online Exhibition of Captured Dance Movements"

This project draws inspiration from traditional Chinese dances that are gradually fading from memory.

We visualize four different intangible cultural heritage dances, including the Peacock Dance from the Dai ethnic group, the Nuo Opera from the Anhui Hui group, the Phoenix Dance from the Guizhou Miao group, and the Dragon Dance from the Guanghua group. Our aim is to preserve these precious movements by re-visualizing the elements embedded within them,

In this project, we use basic geometric shapes to represent the animals associated with each dance, such as using a fan shape for the Peacock Dance and a feather structure for the Phoenix Dance. By adjusting the shapes’ geometry and transformation processes, the audience can intuitively grasp the meaning behind the movements. We blend dynamic and static elements, creating a real-time, interactive experience that enhances the connection between the dance and its viewers.

Through this project, we hope to raise awareness of endangered cultural traditions and, by employing various media, ensure that these traditions continue to shine in the midst of emerging waves of innovation.
